We continue our tribute to Band Directors we’ve partnered with over the years who continue to impress us as they inspire the next generation of performing arts musicians. For April, we acknowledge David E. Morris, Director of Bands at Spanish Springs High School in Sparks, Nevada. Working with David for more than ten years, the GPG team appreciates David’s passionate skill as a music educator. We’re proud to be part of the network of people he trusts to help guide his marching program to high levels of achievement and competitive success. Additionally, his other ensembles flourish under his direction because of his vast knowledge and experience of all things band.
A native of Lexington, Kentucky, he’s in his 39th year of teaching in public schools in Nevada, Kentucky and Louisiana, including serving as Associate Director of Bands at Louisiana State University. Mr. Morris holds both the Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degrees in Music Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. Professional memberships include Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi (honorary), Pi Kappa Lambda, National Band Association, National Association for Music Education and the Nevada Music Educators Association.
