Ghost Ship is an adventurous “pirate” themed piece for young concert band. The work opens with the dark, ominous sound of low brass, low reeds, and a ship’s bell (a brake drum is a sufficient substitute). A quick tempo helps your crew prepare for battle, passing melodic fragments and ideas across the woodwinds and brass. Then, a thunderous timpani solo (m. 92), and war! Who will survive their encounter with the Ghost Ship?
