“Windstorm” is the third work in the Wind Saga collection by Shaun Salem. The introduction of the work is intentionally bombastic and jarring. As the first fast section unfolds, the driving motor rhythm borrowed from “Windrider” fades away as a new pattern is introduced and gradually developed. The first section fades into a slow section, with a clarinet soloist setting the atmosphere of being in the “eye of a storm,” gathering strength for the dramatic, climactic escape from the Windstorm.
