Doug Hurst teaches percussion and private lessons at Lakota West High School. He has been arranging music and teaching percussion, both indoor and marching band, in the Tri-State area for over 20 years. His degree is from Northern Kentucky University where he was awarded the Corbett Scholarship and was a two year President of the Xi Lambda chapter of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. While at NKU he was able to study with world renowned percussionist Richard Jensen, a member of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra since 78’ and Scott Lang, Principle percussionist for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and Director of Percussion studies at NKU. Doug also performed and traveled the country for four years with Drum and Bugle Corps, Spending two years with the Pride of Cincinnati 84’ 85’ and two years with the Suncoast Sound 86’ 87’. He currently enjoys playing with local community theatre groups and with the Anderson Community band. He resides in Mt. Washington with his 15 year old son, Christopher.
