Heidi Franklin

Heidi (Heinbockel) Franklin studied double bass performance with Linda Clayton of the Dallas
Symphony, Murray Grodner of Indiana University and Gary Karr of Hartt College. She received
her Bachelor of Music (Cum Laude) in Music Education from the Conservatory of Music at the
University of the Pacific and was awarded the Master of Music degree from the same university.
She has performed with the San Jose Symphony, Stockton Symphony, Reno Symphony, Mostly
Mozart Orchestra (San Francisco), Bear Valley Festival Orchestra, and the Fresno Philharmonic.

For the past twenty years, Ms. Franklin has been Director of Orchestras for the Buchanan
Educational Center in the Clovis Unified School District. Prior to teaching in Clovis, she was a
string instrument specialist in the Visalia Unified and Fresno Unified School Districts. She was
also the director of the Fresno Junior Symphony for five years. She is active as an adjudicator,
guest conductor and clinician.

Always passionate about music and the opportunities it offers young students, Ms. Franklin has
volunteered her time as Orchestra Representative of FMCMEA (Fresno – Madera Counties
Music Educators Association) and has served on the Board of Directors for the Fresno
Philharmonic. She was named Outstanding Middle School Orchestra Director for 1996-97 by the
Fresno-Madera Music Educators Association and was awarded the Orchestra Educator Award for
1999-2000 by the California Music Educators Association.
